This chapter describes the front panel display, the rear panel, and LED indicators of
the DES-1048G.

Front Panel

The front panel of the Switch consists of an LED indicator for Status, two indicators for
the optional GBIC ports and two indicators for each UTP copper port. Forty-eight
10/100 Mbps twisted-pair ports are arranged in two rows on the front panel with odd
numbered ports making up the top row and even numbered ports along the bottom.

Rear Panel

The rear panel contains an RS-232 DTE console port for setting up and managing the
Switch via a connection to a console terminal or PC using a terminal emulation
program, the AC power connector and two slots for adding GBIC ports. The AC power
connector is a standard three-pronged connector that supports the power cord. Plug-in
the female connector of the provided power cord into this socket, and the male side of
the cord into a power outlet. Supported input voltages range from 100 ~ 240 VAC at 50
~ 60 Hz.
