PXNplus CPU Board
The PXNplus CPU Board provides direct-connect, dial-up
(with optional modem), and network capabilities in one
board. The PXNplus CPU Board must be in the second right
slot of the controller, next to the Power/Communications
Board.
For a detailed description of the PXNplus CPU Board, refer
to the M5 Controller Installation Manual.

Installation
Cautions
•
Do not apply power to any component during
installation. Damage to components may occur.
•
The M5 must be earth grounded.
To mount the controller:
1.
Remove the packing material from the enclosure.
2.
Unscrew four nuts to remove the card cage. Use a
socket wrench for #10 nuts.

Using the template provided (531009001A), mark and
drill the four mounting holes.
4.
Using customer furnished ¼ in. (6 mm) threaded lag
bolts or equivalent and washers, secure the enclosure
to the wall. Replace the card cage.
5.
If required, install cable conduit to the M5 enclosure
knockout holes.
The Cabinet has knockout holes on three sides; the
cable is pulled through these holes. To open the holes,
strike the knockouts from outside the cabinet.
6.
Fit and tighten an approved strain relief clamp in each
knockout hole to be used.
7.
Find the nearest earth ground (electrical box, ground
bus, etc.). Run wire from the M5 cabinet ground
terminal (cabinet bottom left) to the earth ground point.
Use wire size in accordance with local and national
electrical codes.
Grounding procedure and
regulatory information
Note:
All of the following points must be observed for
regulatory compliance.
•
All cables connected to the M5 must be shielded with
the shield terminated as shown in Figure 3.
•
The M5 enclosure must be connected to the nearest
earth ground.
•
Prior to connecting the network cable to connector J1,
loop the cable through the Ferrite provided and wrap
the cable around the Ferrite four times as shown in
Figure 4.
•
The Power/Communications Board must be in the far
right slot of the M5 card cage and grounded with a
factory-installed braided wire as shown in Figure 5.
•
The PXNplus CPU Board must be in the second slot
from the right of the M5 card cage and grounded with
a factory-installed braided wire as shown in Figure 5.
