Appendix A: Capture Action and Codec Descriptions
Capture Action
Capture Action
The Telestream Live Service and Capture action are software management features
built into a Lightspeed Live server, which accepts live SDI video feeds and captures
them to media files.
The Capture action is a function available for inclusion in workflows created in the
Vantage core software installed on the Lightspeed Live server. The Capture action
inspector allows you to select and configure live streams for processing, filtering,
transcoding, and output. You can also use the action to insert leader, filler, and trailer
media from files into the live stream.
The container and codec selected in the Capture action allow configuration of the
encoding and format of the capture operation. The resulting media is captured to a
primary file stored locally or copied to external SAN/NAS storage. At the same time a
secondary proxy file may also be configured and produced.
As a Vantage origin action, the Capture action can be used in Vantage to begin a
workflow, and can be the only action in the workflow. A capture workflow can include
additional actions, such as a Copy or Move action, which can be optionally used to
output the captured file to an additional location.
The Lightspeed Live Capture web application is where you turn recording of the
selected sources on and off and pause recording. For information on that portion of the
product, please see the
