Poor Performance

Possible Cause
Throttle not fully open.
Damaged or improper propeller. Replace propeller.
Excessive bilge water.
Boat overloaded or load
improperly distributed.
Boat bottom fouled or damaged. Clean or repair as necessary.
Flame Arrestor dirty.
EFI System fault (If So
Equipped).

Excessive Engine Temperature

Possible Cause
Seacock closed.
Drive belt loose or in poor
condition.
Seawater pickups obstructed.
Faulty thermostat.
Coolant level low in closed
cooling section (If Equipped).
Heat Exchanger Cores plugged
with foreign material (If
Equipped).
Loss of pressure in closed
cooling section (If Equipped).
Faulty seawater pickup pump.
Seawater discharge restricted
or plugged.
Remedy
Inspect throttle cable and
linkages for proper operation.
Drain and check for cause of
entry.
Reduce load or redistribute
load more evenly.
Clean Flame Arrestor.
Have EFI System checked.
Remedy
Open.
Replace or adjust belt.
Remove obstruction.
Replace.
Check for cause of low coolant
level and repair. Fill system
with proper coolant solution.
Clean Heat Exchanger.
Check for leaks. Clean, inspect
and test pressure cap.
Repair.
Clean exhaust elbows.
