Wipe Disinfection
The "wipe disinfection" method is mandatory for Gebrüder Martin lights.
How often wipe disinfection is required depends on the specifications of your hygiene plan.
The frequency may vary from room to room. The basic criterion is always the risk of infection
associated with each working area.
WARNING
Health hazard from noxious substances!
Disinfectants may contain noxious substances:
Use disinfectants only in compliance with the hygiene regulations of your hospital.
•
The operator is required to observe the requirements of the competent national Hygiene
•
and Disinfection Panel.
NOTICE
Risk of light system damage!
When using the "wipe disinfection" method, the amount of liquid used must be limited so that
the formation of "pools" – and consequential capillary action by which the liquid could be
drawn into the light – is reliably prevented.
From a microbiological point of view, a thin, all-surface moisture film is sufficient.
When using spray disinfectants, spray the disinfectant onto a soft cloth and then wipe
•
over the light. Never spray the disinfectant directly onto the light!
Apply the surface disinfectant to the target surface using a cloth. The important point is
•
to ensure, for maximum effectiveness of the disinfectant, that the surface is kept moist
throughout the required application/exposure time.
NOTICE
To prevent the formation of layers of disinfectant residues, be sure to clean the externally
accessible parts of the light at regular intervals (see section 9.2 "Cleaning the Light's
Externally Accessible Parts", page 28) using a mild neutral detergent.
How often such cleaning is required depends on the frequency of wipe disinfection.
