microfarad, 5000
volt,
capacitor
and
the
protection
circuit
shown
in
Figure 4-2
in
series between
the
OUTPUT
connector and
the input
of
a
preamplifier (Gain
=
100).
Connect
the
pre-
amplifier output
to the
input
of
an
oscilloscope.
c.
Set
the
POWER
and
HIGH
VOLTAGE
switches
to
ON
and observe
the
ripple.
The
ripple
should be
less than
1.0
millivolt
peak-to-peak
(see
Figure
4-5).
(Oscilloscope display should
indicate less
than
100 millivolts
peak-to-peak,
and are
typically
20
to
40 millivolts
peak-to-peak).
