Interface Com

The HM8134-3 is basically equipped with the serial inter-
face. The instrument is prepared for the installation of eit-
her an optional RS-232 (HO890), IEEE-488 (HO880) or an
USB (HO870) interface (all galvanically isolated). Only the
baud rate of the serial interface can be modified. The op-
tional interface is chosen by operating the context sensi-
tive keys. After power-on the serial interface is activated by
default. If you want the optional interface to be activated
after power-on, store the instruments settings (optional in-
terface activated) in the configuration memory 0.
Serial interface
It is possible to select the transmission rates 300, 600,
1200, 2400, 4800, 9600 or 19200 baud by pressing the
context sensitive key
. The other parameters are fixed:

❙ 8 data bits
❙ 1 stop bit
For the connection between PC and instrument you can
use a standard 1:1 cable.
USB interface
You do not have to change the configuration. If required,
the baud rate can be changed. Connect the HM8134-3
with your PC using a USB cable and install the USB drivers
like described in the manual of the USB interface HO820.
GPIB interface
Connect the HM8134-3 with your PC using a GPIB cable.
It is necessary to set the GPIB adress of the HM8134-3
to the desired value. The adress is changed at the inter-
face on the rear panel. Do this settings only before star-
ting the instrument. It is not possible when the instrument
is running.

Display LCD

The contrast and the illumination of the display is adjusted
by pressing one of the four context sensitive keys
res-ponding to + or –.

After selecting the SWEEP option in the configuration
menu, the display shows:
