15. How do I access/manage a PC behind the router from
remote?
In order to manage a PC in your LAN from a remote location you need an application that
allows you to do that. There is currently a lot of software for that purpose, some needing to
open certain ports in your router to let the connection from the WAN go through to the LAN
host. However there is an application that does not need any router configuration and it is
free, the TeamViewer. You can download it for free at:
http://www.teamviewer.com/products/screenshots.aspx
You need to install the application or run it without installation in both the managed PC and
the administrator computer, where you want to access the PC host from. Check the following
picture for the configuration parameters. In the managed computer you need to Wait for a
session and write down the ID and Password. In the admin computer you need to Create a
Session entering the previous ID and Password. Now you should be able to access the remote
PC.
