Connections!

Connect the handset cord.
The jack on the longer, uncoiled end of the handset cord should be connected to
the unit.

Connect the telephone line cord.
Connect the power cord.

When the power is turned on for the first time, the unit will print some basic information.

This model is designed to be used in Australia and New Zealand. TO USE IN NEW ZEALAND,
CHANGE THE LOCATION SETTING (feature #74 on page 62).
Caution:
When you operate this product, the power outlet should be near the product and easily
accessible.
Use the telephone line cord included in this unit.
Do not extend the telephone line cord.
Note:
An earthed contact socket should be used when connecting the unit to the power outlet.
You can connect an answering machine or extension telephone to this unit (p. 44–46).
When the power is turned on and the display shows the following, unlock the shipping lock (p. 13).

To use the fax machine with a computer on the same line
We recommend you use separate wall jacks for the fax machine and the computer.
Set the fax machine to TEL mode (p. 42).
The device which has the shortest ring setting will answer the call first.
If the computer provides a port for a telephone line, connect the fax machine to this port on the computer.
