For digital receivers that send a
special recording control signal, e.g.
the SKY SATELLITE RECEIVER.
Ext Link 2:
External recording control for satellites
or digital receivers (video signal).
If the television is connected to the
AV1 connection via the 21-pin Scart
cable, the picture to be recorded
appears on the screen.
The beginning of the recording may
not be recorded correctly in certain
cases.
The Ext Link 2 setting cannot be
used if the input signal is in NTSC
format.

Before TIMER recordings via external devices
You control the recording function via an external device (e.g. receiver) using EXT LINK.
Connect the external device with a 21-pin Scart cable to the AV2 socket.
Adjust the Ext Link function for the connected device.
Press FUNCTIONS, use

to select Ext Link and confirm with ENTER.
Use
to select [Ext Link 1] or [Ext Link 2] and confirm with ENTER.
TIMER recordings via external devices (EXT LINK)
The programming of the recording must take place on the external device.
The recording begins when a corresponding signal is received from the connected device
and ends when the transmission of the signal is stopped.
Press EXT LINK.
Standby mode for TIMER-controlled recordings is activated.
EXT Link lights up on the display.
If you have activated the External Link Standby mode, remote control functions such
as the TV Guide are not available.
Switching off control via the external device
Press EXT LINK to end the recording or to switch off the standby mode for the
TIMER-controlled recording. The EXT Link display turns off.

Connect the external device to the AV3 input sockets on the front side of the unit.

If you activated the write-protection, deactivate it.
Choose one of the two connection possibilities.
Connection with S VIDEO cable and audio cable (L/R) produces the best quality.

Press REC MODE to select the recording mode.
In stop mode, use INPUT SELECT to select the input channel AV3.
Start the playback on the external device.
Press REC at the point where you want to begin recording.
Press PAUSE
to pause recording. Press the button to resume recording.
Press STOP
to stop recording.
This unit cannot record signals from PCs.
Recording of bilingual programmes:

If [M1] and [M2] are selected on the connected device, you can choose the audio mode
during playback.
Select [M1] or [M2] on the connected device. You cannot select the audio mode

during playback. If the output signal of the external device is an NTSC signal, set the TV
system in the SETUP menu to [NTSC].
