Installing the DS4000 Storage Manager client

Refer to the IBM System Storage DS4000 Storage Manager 9.16 Installation and
Support Guide for the appropriate operating system for instructions on how to install
the Storage Manager software. Use that document and the online help to configure
the logical drives, partitions, and so on for the RAID controllers. Use your operating
system documentation to make the new logical drives accessible to the operating
system. Do not proceed with the configuration setup until you have completed the
DS4000 Storage Manager installation.

Firmware requirements

You must ensure that your system's firmware is at the levels shown in Table 17.
Assemble any additional items in preparation for software installation. These items
might include:
v HBA drivers
v Controller firmware version 06.15.xx.xx or 06.16.xx.xx. Controller firmware

6.15.xx.xx is currently shipped with the DS4800 subsystem models 82A/H, 84A/H
and 88A/H. This version of DS4800 controller firmware supports the EXP100 and
EXP710 storage expansion enclosures. It does not support the attachment of
EXP810 enclosures. The DS4800 controller firmware version 06.16.xx.xx is
shipped with the EXP810 storage expansion enclosures and DS4800 model
80A/H. It supports the attachment of EXP710s and EXP810s to the DS4800
subsystem. Do not install the controller firmware version 6.16.xx.xx in the
DS4800 subsystems having an EXP100 attached.

supports EXP710 storage expansion
