ELEVATOR PUSHROD ASSEMBLY

4) Using a ruler, measure the pushrod dowel
(D-34). The dowel should be 9-3/4" long. If it is
longer, use a modeling knife and cut the dowel to
the proper length.
5) Using a ruler and a pen, measure in 1"
from only one end of the dowel and place a mark.
Using a 3/32" drill bit, drill a hole completely
through the dowel at this mark. Using a modeling
knife, cut a groove on each side of the dowel
from the hole out to the end of the dowel. See
figure # 12 below.

6) Using a pair of pliers, bend the remaining
two 2mm x 210mm threaded wires to the correct
dimension. See figure # 13 below.

7) Install the 90º bend in one wire into each
side of the hole in the wood dowel. The wires
should lay in the grooves as well.
8) Holding the wires in place, apply a small
amount of Kwik Bond Thin C/A to the wires and
dowel. Allow the glue to cure, then wrap the
wires to the dowel using 1/2A Flying Line or simi-
lar thread. Apply more thin C/A to the thread,
wires and dowel and allow the glue to cure. The
wires should be solidly attached to the dowel.

9) Using a ruler and a pen, measure in 2-1/4"
from the opposite end of the dowel and place a
mark. Using a 3/32" drill bit, drill a hole com-
pletely through the dowel at this mark. The hole
should be perpendicular to the first hole you drilled.
Use a modeling knife and cut a groove from the
hole out to the end of the dowel.
10) Trial fit the 2mm x 90 wire with L-bends
at both ends into the hole you just drilled. Use a
ruler and measure from the L-bend to the tips of
the threaded wires. The measurement should be
17-7/8". If it is not, make any necessary adjust-
ments until the proper measurement is achieved.

11) Holding the wire in place, apply a small
amount of Kwik Bond Thin C/A to the wire and
dowel. Allow the glue to cure, then wrap the
wire to the dowel using 1/2A Flying Line or simi-
lar thread. Apply more thin C/A to the thread,
wire and dowel and allow the glue to cure. The
wire should be solidly attached to the dowel.

ELEVATOR PUSHROD INSTALLATION

12) Using a ruler and a pen, mark the size
and the positions of the two elevator pushrod exits
and outline them onto both sides of the fuselage.
The pushrod exits are located on both sides of the
fuselage, 3/4" below the bottom surface of the hori-
zontal stabilizer. The exits should be 3/32" tall and
1-3/16" long. The rear edge of the exits are lo-
cated 4-7/8" forward of the rear edge of the fuse-
lage. See figure # 15 below.
