Set the required temperature on the rotary potentiometer (3) and switch on the unit at the
mains switch (1). At the end of the necessary warm-up time, wet the soldering iron bit with
solder.

3. Notes on Soldering

Never operate the soldering iron without a bit, otherwise the heater element and the
temperature sensor will be damaged.
During breaks in soldering and prior to placing the soldering iron in the holder, always ensure
that the soldering iron bit is well tinned. Use the correct flux. For lead profile flux paste, and
for copper foil liquid flux. Do not use excessively aggressive fluxes.
To put down the hot soldering iron, always use the safety holder provided.
Any mechanical working of the soldering iron bit destroys the galvanic protective coating
and drastically reduces the life of the soldering iron bit.
The Soldering Station has been set up for a medium soldering iron bit. Temperature variations
due to a change of bit, or due to the use of other shape bits can occur.

4. Safety Instructions

No liability for usage other than that in the operating instructions or for unauthorised
modifications is accepted by the manufacturer.
These operating instructions and the warning notes contained therein are to be read carefully
and stored near the Soldering Station such that they are clearly visible. Failure to observe the
warning notes can lead to accidents and injury, or damage to the health.
The WELLER WSS80 Soldering Station complies with the EC declaration of conformity in
accordance with the basic safety requirements in the directives 89/336/EWG and 73/23/
EWG.
