When using a cable reel, always unwind the cable

ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENTS

WARNING: To reduce the risk of
serious personal injury, turn tool
off and disconnect battery pack
before making any adjustments or
removing/installing attachments or
accessories. An accidental start-up can
cause injury.
WARNING: Use only D
packs and chargers.
Inserting and Removing the
Battery Pack from the Tool (Fig. 1)
NOTE: Make sure your battery pack (N) is fully
charged.
TO INSTALL THE BATTERY PACK INTO THE TOOL HANDLE
1. Align the battery pack (N) with the rails inside
the tool's handle (Fig. 1).
2. Slide it into the handle until the battery pack is
firmly seated in the tool and ensure that you
hear the lock snap into place.
TO REMOVE THE BATTERY PACK FROM THE TOOL
1. Press the release button (O) and firmly pull the
battery pack out of the tool handle.
2. Insert battery pack into the charger as
described in the charger section of this manual.
FUEL GAUGE BATTERY PACKS (FIG. 1)
Some D
WALT battery packs include a fuel gauge
e
which consists of three green LED lights that
indicate the level of charge remaining in the battery
pack.
To actuate the fuel gauge, press and hold the fuel
gauge button (P). A combination of the three green
LED lights will illuminate designating the level of
charge left. When the level of charge in the battery
is below the usable limit, the fuel gauge will not
illuminate and the battery will need to be recharged.
NOTE: The fuel gauge is only an indication of the
charge left on the battery pack. It does not indicate
tool functionality and is subject to variation based
on product components, temperature and end-user
application.

Proper Hand Position (Fig. 2)

Proper hand position requires one hand on the front
handle (J), with the other hand on the main handle
(C).
Trigger Switch (Fig. 1)
Release the trigger switch lock-off button (B) by
pressing the button as shown. Pull the trigger switch
(A) to turn the motor on. Releasing the switch turns
the motor off.
To start the planer depress the trigger switch (A).
To turn the planer off, release the trigger switch.
Adjusting the Planing Depth (Fig. 1)
To adjust the depth of cut, turn the planing depth
adjustment knob (J). Each click is equal to 0.1 mm
of depth up to the maximum depth of cut of
approximately 2.0 mm (5/64").
It is recom mended that test cuts be made in scrap
wood after each re-adjustment to make sure that
the desired amount of wood is being removed by
the planer. Several shallow passes (rather than one
deep one) will produce a smoother finish.
Planing (Fig. 1, 2–4)
Hold the planer in the correct position with one
hand on the front handle (J) and the other hand on
the main handle (C) as shown in Figure 2. Place the
front shoe (G) on the surface to be planed, making
certain that the cutting blades are not touching the
