Note: Dispose of the used oil at a certified recycling
center.
5. Clean around the oil reservoir and unscrew the cap
(Fig. 35).
6. Slowly pour approximately 80% of the specified
amount of oil, page 29, into the filler tube (Fig. 33).
Check the oil level; refer to Checking the Oil Level,
page 29. Slowly add additional oil to bring the level to
the "F" mark on the dipstick.
Changing the Oil Filter
Replace the oil filter every 200 hours or every other oil
change.
Note: Change the oil filter more frequently when
operating conditions are extremely dusty or sandy.
1. Drain the oil from the engine; refer to Changing and
Draining the Oil, page 29.
2. Remove the old filter and wipe the filter adapter
(Fig. 36) gasket surface.

3. Apply a thin coat of clean oil to the rubber gasket on
the replacement filter (Fig. 36).
4. Install the replacement oil filter to the filter adapter.
Turn the oil filter clockwise until the rubber gasket
contacts the filter adapter, then tighten the filter an
additional 2/3 to 1 turn (Fig. 36).
5. Fill the crankcase with the proper type of new oil;
refer to Changing and Draining the Oil, page 29.

Air Cleaner

Primary Filter: Check and/or replace after every 200
operating hours or more often in dusty conditions.
Safety Filter: Replace after every 600 operating hours.
Note: Check the filters more frequently if operating
conditions are extremely dusty or sandy.
Removing the Filters
1. Disengage the power take off (PTO), set the parking
brake, and turn the ignition key to off. Remove the
key.
2. Release the latches on the air cleaner and pull the air
cleaner cover off of the air cleaner body (Fig. 37).

3. Clean the inside of the air cleaner cover with
compressed air.
4. Gently slide the primary filter out of the air cleaner
body (Fig. 37). Avoid knocking the filter into the side
of the air cleaner.
5. Remove the safety filter only if you intend to replace
it.
Important
Never attempt to clean the safety filter. If
the safety filter is dirty, then the primary filter is damaged
and you should replace both filters.
6. Inspect the primary filter for damage by looking into
the filter while shining a bright light on the outside of
the filter. Damage and holes in the filter will appear as
bright spots. If the filter is damaged discard it.
