Adjusting the Cutting Unit
No Parts Required
Procedure
Before operating the machine, complete the following
adjustments:
• Level the rear drum to the reel.
• Adjust the bedknife to the reel.
• Adjust the height-of-cut.
• Adjust the grass shield height
• Adjust the cut-off bar.
Refer to the Cutting Unit Maintenance section in
Maintenance for instructions on performing these
procedures.

Installing the Grass Basket
Parts needed for this procedure:

Procedure
Grasp basket by top lip and slide it onto the basket
mounting rods (Figure 5).

2. Traction drive lever
Throttle Control
The throttle control (Figure 6) is located on rear right
side of the control panel. The lever connects to and
operates throttle linkage to the carburetor. The engine
speed can be varied from 1600 to 3600 RPM.
Traction Drive Lever
The traction drive lever (Figure 6) is located on the front
right side of the control panel. It has two positions:
Neutral and Forward. Pushing the lever forward engages
the traction drive.
Service/Parking Brake
The service/parking brake (Figure 6) is located on left
front side of control panel. You can use the brake to
slow or stop the machine. Pulling the lever back over
center will set the parking brake. You must release the
brake before traction drive is engaged.
Operator Presence Control (Optional)
If equipped, the operator presence control (Figure 6)
is located on the rear of the handle. Push the operator
presence control against the handle. If equipped, the
operator presence control must be engaged before
moving the traction drive lever or the engine will stop.
Reel Drive Lever
The reel drive lever (Figure 7) is located on the right
front corner of the machine. The lever has two
