Configuration Overview The following sections document the major steps needed to configure the ShoreTel system with the EXTREME x440 summit series switches. ShoreTel Configuration There is no specific configuration required on the ShoreTel telephony system to interoperate with the EXTREME Ethernet switches, although you may need to configure the ShoreTel system for proper QoS functionality. ShoreTel Director allows you to configure DiffServ or ToS Byte settings in the Call Control Options page (see below for example). Please note that ShoreTel Director requires the settings in decimal, thus a DiffServ setting of 46 corresponds to a setting of 184. For Call Control Quality of Service, although legacy value of 104 is still supported but we highly recommend to modify this value to 96 which corresponds to DiffServ setting of 24. Configuring this parameter with the actual DiffServ or ToS Byte setting will result in undesired results. For further assistance in configuring the DiffServ/ToS Byte parameter, please refer to ShoreTel’s Administration Guide or contact ShoreTel Network Services.
