against metal sprayer components, causing sparks.
Sparks can cause the battery gasses to explode,
resulting in personal injury.
• When removing or installing the battery, do not
allow the battery terminals to touch any metal
parts of the sprayer.
• Do not allow metal tools to short between the

Charging the Battery

Important
Always keep the battery fully charged. This
is especially important to prevent battery damage when the
temperature is below 32° F (0° C).
1. Remove the battery from the chassis; refer to Removing
the Battery on page 40.
2. Connect a 3 to 4 amp battery charger to the battery
posts. Charge the battery at a rate of 3 to 4 amperes for
4 to 8 hours (12 volts). Do not overcharge the battery.
Warning
Charging the battery produces gasses that can
explode.
Never smoke near the battery and keep sparks and
flames away from battery.
3. Install the battery in the chassis; refer to Installing the
Battery on page 40.
Storing the Battery
If the machine will be stored for more than 30 days, remove
the battery and charge it fully. Either store it on the shelf or
on the machine. Leave the cables disconnected if it is stored
on the machine. Store the battery in a cool atmosphere to
avoid quick deterioration of the charge in the battery. To
prevent the battery from freezing, ensure that it is fully
charged.
