Slowly add electrolyte or distilled water to each
cell until level is just below the "UPPER" fill
line. Reinstall filler caps. Once battery is in
service, distilled water only should be added;
never add more electrolyte.
IMPORTANT: Do not overfill battery.
Electrolyte will overflow onto other parts and
severe corrosion and deterioration will result.
Installing the Battery
1.
Install the battery with the terminal posts toward
the rear of the machine and vent tube on the left
side of the battery, through the hole in the frame
(Fig. 5).

Reinstall battery hold downs.

POTENTIAL HAZARD
The battery terminals could short against
the battery hold–down or metal tractor
components.
WHAT CAN HAPPEN
Sparks can cause the battery gasses to
explode.
HOW TO AVOID THE HAZARD
When removing or installing the battery, do
not allow the battery terminals to touch any
metal parts of the tractor.
Always keep the battery hold–down rods
in place to protect and secure the battery.

Install the red positive cable (rubber boot over
end) to the positive (+) terminal and the negative
cable (black) to the negative (–) terminal of the
battery and secure with capscrews and wing
nuts. Slide the rubber boot over the positive
terminal to prevent a possible short-out from
occurring (Fig. 5).
