Battery Removal
The battery is located under the dash
panel. It can be accessed by lifting the
hood and reaching between the fire
wall and the dash panel. There is a
rubber strap holding the battery in
place.
To remove the battery:
• Free upper end of the rubber strap by
unhooking it from the frame.
• Disconnect the negative lead from
the battery first, and then disconnect
the positive lead from the battery.
Remember to keep the fasteners just
removed in a place where they will
not be lost.
• Carefully lift the battery up and out of
the tractor.

Battery Maintenance

• Check
the
periodically. Keep the level to the
split rings. Use only distilled water or
a good quality drinking water. Never
add acid or any other chemicals to
the battery after initial activation.
• The battery should be checked with a
hydrometer after every 50 hours of
operation. If the specific gravity of
any cell is less than 1.235, the
battery
should

• Spray the terminals and exposed
wire with a battery terminal sealer, or
coat the terminals with a thin coat of
grease or petroleum jelly, to protect
against corrosion.
• The battery should be kept clean.
Any deposits of acid should be
neutralized with baking soda and
water. Be careful not to get this
solution in the cells.
• Avoid tipping the battery. Even a
"sealed" battery will leak electrolyte
when tipped.
Battery Storage
• When storing the tractor for extended
periods,

electrolyte

battery clean, especially the top. A
dirty battery will discharge itself more
rapidly.
