  • Page 25 Getting Started Power over Ethernet With the included or a regular Ethernet cable, the SIP-T28P IP phone can be powered from a PoE-compliant switch or hub. To connect the PoE: Connect the Ethernet cable between the Internet port on the phone and an available port on the in-line power switch/hub.

  • Page 27 Getting Started The phone status is displayed on the first page of the web user interface. If your phone cannot contact a DHCP server for any reason, you need to configure network settings manually. The IP phone can support either or both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

    Customizing Your Phone You can customize your SIP-T28P IP phone by personally configuring certain settings, for example, contrast, time & date and ring tones. You can add contacts to the phone’s local directory manually or from call history. You can also personalize different ring tones for different callers.

    User Guide for the SIP-T28P IP Phone Contrast is configurable via web user interface at the path Settings->Preference. You can configure the backlight to adjust the brightness of the LCD screen. Backlight active level is used to adjust to the backlight intensity of the LCD screen. Backlight time specifies the delay time to turn off the backlight when the IP phone is inactive.

    Customizing Your Phone You can lock your phone temporarily when you are not using it. This feature helps to protect your phone from unauthorized use. Phone lock consists of the following: Menu Key: The Menu soft key and MESSAGE key are locked. You cannot access the menu of the phone until unlocked.

    Customizing Your Phone To adjust the volume when the phone is during a call: Press to adjust the volume of currently engaged audio device (handset, speakerphone or headset). Ring tones are used to indicate incoming calls. You can select different ring tones to distinguish different accounts registered on your phone, or to distinguish your phone from your neighbor’s.

    Customizing Your Phone To access your remote phone book via phone user interface: Press Menu->Directory->Remote Phone Book. If Remote Phone Book is added to the directory, press Directory->Remote Phone Book to enter the remote phone book. Select the desired remote group, and then press the Enter soft key. The phone then connects to the remote phone book and proceeds to load it.

The SIP-T28P IP phone maintains call history lists of Placed Calls, Received Calls, Missed Calls and Forwarded Calls. Call history lists support 100 entries in all.     There are four types of DSS keys: Memory Keys, Line Keys, Programmable Keys and Ext Keys. The details will be introduced in the following. The use of line keys and memory keys are almost the same. The SIP-T28P IP phone supports 10 memory keys and 6 line keys.

  • Page 79 Customizing Your Phone You can configure one or more dial-now rules (up to 100) on your phone. When the dialed out number matches the dial-now string, the number will be dialed out automatically. For example, a dial-now rule is configured as "2xx", any entered three-digit string beginning with 2 will then be dialed out automatically on the phone.

You can enable live dialpad on the SIP-T28P IP phone, which enables the IP phone to automatically dial out a phone number without the pressing of the send key. You can also configure a delay, where the phone will dial out the phone number automatically after the designated period of time.

You can dial a hotline number immediately upon lifting the handset, pressing the Speakerphone key or pressing a line key.     Basic Call Features The SIP-T28P IP phone is designed to be easily used like a regular phone on a public switched telephone network (PSTN). You can place calls, answer calls, transfer a call to someone else, or conduct a conference call.
