Symptom
The picture is
out of focus.
The picture is
too dark.

Cause

The mode was not selected correctly.
The subject was closer than the
minimum working distance to the lens
(D-300L: 0.5 m/1.64 ft; D-200L:0.75 m/
2.46 ft) with the the Normal mode
selected. Or the subject was farther
than the minimum working distance
with the Macro mode selected.

The shutter release button was
pressed from right in front of the
camera in the Self-Timer mode.

The flash was blocked by a finger.

The subject was out of the
working range of the flash.

The flash mode was set to
the Off mode.

The subject was too small
and backlight.
Remedy

Shoot from more than the minimum working
distance when in the Normal mode.
Shoot from less than the minimum working
distance when in the Macro mode.

Press the shutter release button while looking
into the viewfinder, not while standing in front of
the camera.

Hold the camera correctly, keeping
your fingers away from the flash.

Shoot within the flash working range.

Check the flash mode before shooting.
4
Set the flash to Fill-In mode.
