Camera maintenance and storage

After-use camera care

After you use the camera, always switch it off and replace the lens cap. When
storing the camera, do not use insect repellents of any sort.

Cleaning the camera

Set the Mode dial to "OFF".

Remove the batteries (P.29). If you are using the AC adapter,
unplug the connection cord from the camera and unplug the
AC adapter from the domestic mains power outlet. (P.33)

Never use harsh detergents such as benzene or alcohol to clean the camera.
Always remove the batteries and disconnect the AC adapter before cleaning
the camera.
Leaving soiling on the lens can result in the growth of mold.
Do not use chemical cleaners or chemically impregnated cloths.

Gently wipe the outside of the camera with a
soft, dry cloth. Where there is excessive soiling,
moisten the cloth with diluted mild liquid soap,
wring the cloth out thoroughly and use it to wipe
off the dirt. Then wipe the camera thoroughly
with a dry cloth. If you have been using the
camera near the ocean, moisten the cloth with
fresh water, wring the cloth out thoroughly and
use it to wipe the camera.
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.
Use a lens blower (commercially available) to
blow off any dust and then wipe the lens
carefully with lens cleaning paper. Replace
the lens cap when storing the camera.
Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.
