  • Page 5 CAUTION The AUD300C is specially designed for intermittent burner operation (system is started and stopped once or more within 24 hours) and 24-hour continuous burner operation (combustion continues for 24 hours or longer). It must be used with a burner controller having a dynamic self-checking function.

    Overview ■ The AUD300C1000 Advanced Ultraviolet Flame Detector (hereafter referred to as the AUD300C) is designed to detect ultraviolet radiation from an oil or gas burner flame, for use with both batch and continuous operation. The AUD300C is used in combination with a dedicated burner controller.

    Chapter 3. WIRING WARNING Before removing, mounting, or wiring the AUD300C, be sure to turn off the AUD300C and all con- nected devices. Failure to do so might cause electric shock. When measuring the voltage between the F-terminal and G-terminal of this unit in the wiring check, do not touch any terminal by bare hand.

    Chapter 4. ADJUSTMENT Pilot turndown test This test is intended to check that the flame is correctly carried over to the main burner when this unit detects the pilot flame if the gas pressure and air pressure are changed to their worst conditions. WARNING To prevent an explosion trouble, carry out the pilot turndown test firmly.

If it responds to other ultraviolet rays, flame failure in the burner will not be detected. As a result, fuel will continue to be discharged, causing a very serious explosion hazard.

MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION Replacement of the shutter unit and tube unit using the AUD Maintenance Kit ■ CAUTION The service life of the tube unit and shutter unit components of the AUD300C is a maximum of 3 years. To ensure operational safety, be sure to replace them with new ones within this service life period.

(2) Loosen the 2 screws holding the tube unit of the new AUD Maintenance Kit and then remove the unit, grasping it by the back of the unit.

When measuring the voltage with an analog multi-meter, set a large voltage range so that the indication needle does not deflect over the negative scale to check the polarities.
