how to replace cable for the blades
To replace the blade (roller clutch) cable on a Masport Olympic Reel Mower 400:
1. Identify the clutch cable: It enters the mower under the shaft cover and is already attached at the lower end.
2. Route the cable: Run it above the crossbar of the lower handle.
3. Connect the upper end: Feed the ‘Z’ fitting (top of the inner cable) through the small hole in the roller clutch bail located below the handle.
4. Position the cable: Turn the ‘Z’ fitting so the cable runs alongside the upper handle.
5. Adjust tension: Use the adjuster wheel near the upper cable clamp by turning it left (from the operator's view) to increase pressure. If the clamp reaches its limit, adjust the draw bolt in the clutch.
6. Test setting: Place a sheet of paper between the reel and the bottom blade. Rotate the reel by hand. If it cuts the paper, reduce pressure slightly until the paper folds but does not cut.
7. Ensure proper contact: This ensures correct cutting without extra pressure on the blade.
