5. Attach the upper part of the paper guide with the fixing screw.
CAUTION:
Do not pull paper out (forward or backward) with the print head down.
Head thermal elements and driver IC can be damaged; also avoid
touching them with metal objects.
Use the head-open lever only when necessary. Do not touch head
thermal elements directly. (Dust and dirt stick to the surface, which
affects the thermal elements.)

Cleaning the Print Head

After printing, the print head can be very hot. Be careful not to touch it
and to let it cool before you clean it. Do not damage the print head by
touching it with your fingers or any hard object.
Turn off the printer, open the roll paper cover, and clean the
thermal elements of the print head with a cotton swab moistened
with an alcohol solvent (ethanol or IPA).
Epson recommends cleaning the thermal head periodically
(generally every 3 months) to maintain receipt print quality.
Affixing the Fastening Tape (Option)
The optional sets of tape can fasten your printer to a countertop or
other surface. Follow the steps below:
1. Clean the surface where the printer will be installed. Then peel
the green backing paper off of one side of each of the two sets
of tape and affix them to the bottom of the printer, as shown
below.
2. Peel the other green backing paper off of the sets of tape. Press
the printer onto the countertop; it will be held firmly in place
by the fastening tape.
