Descriptions of the Menu Functions

The following pages explain how to operate each menu function.
Note: All menu functions can also be accessed by their shortcut number.
(See Accessing a Menu Function by Shortcut earlier in this chapter.)

Phone Book (Menu 1)

This menu contains the functions described in Using Phone Book in the
Basic Functions chapter.
To access the functions of this menu:
Press
(Menu) and then press
PHONE BOOK menu.

Messages (Menu 2)

Within this menu you can read and write text messages (so called SMS
messages) and listen to messages recorded in your voice mailbox main-
tained by your service provider.
Before sending a text message, make sure that the receiving phone is pro-
vided with SMS (Short Message Service) capability.
The maximum number of text messages stored in the SIM card may vary
depending on the SIM card.

Text Message Indicator

When
is shown continuously:
You have received a new message. There is still space left for new mes-
sages in the message memory.
When
flashes:
There is no space left for new messages. To receive new messages, you
must first delete some old ones by using the Erase function in the Read
Messages menu (Menu 2 1).
