Description
The IBM 7212 Model 102 is designed to provide efficient
and
convenient
storage
selected pSeries and iSeries servers.
The two bays of the 7212 Model 102 can accommodate
any two of the following for pSeries and p5 servers:
• DDS-4 Tape Drive
• DAT72 (DDS Gen5) Tape Drive
• VXA-2 Tape Drive
• 40X CD-ROM Drive
• DVD-RAM Drive
• DVD-RAM 2 Drive
• DVD-ROM Drive
• SLR60 Tape Drive
• SLR100 Tape Drive
• 200/400 GB Half-High LTO Ultrium 2 Tape Drive (new)
The two bays of the 7212 Model 102 can accommodate
any two of the following for iSeries and i5 servers:
• VXA-2 Tape Drive
• DVD-RAM 2 Drive
• DVD-ROM Drive
• SLR60 Tape Drive
• SLR100 Tape Drive
• 200/400 GB Half-High LTO Ultrium 2 Tape Drive (new)

previously announced drive features.
200/400 GB Half-High LTO Ultrium 2 Tape Drive
The Half-High LTO-2 Tape Drive is designed to provide
an Ultrium 2 media physical capacity of up to 200 GB
(400 GB with 2:1 compression) data storage per cartridge
and a sustained data transfer rate of up to 24.0 MB per
second (48 MB per second with 2:1 compression).

cartridges, it is also read and write compatible with
Ultrium 1 cartridge. The Half-High LTO-2 Tape Drive can
be a cost-effective solution for save, restore, and archive
functions.
Key prerequisites
pSeries and p5 server support for these features is
limited to servers that support SCSI adapters, feature
numbers 1974 and 1975 (p5 server), 6203, 6205, 6206,
5703, 5710, 5711, 5712, Integrated Ultra2 SCSI Adapter,
and Integrated Ultra3 SCSI Adapter. The software level

must be AIX
V5.1.0 with update CD LCD4-1103-07, or
later, or Linux
, as listed at the end of this section.
iSeries and i5 server support for 7212 Model 102 is
limited to servers that support adapter feature numbers
2768, 5702, 5703, 5705, and 5712, and with OS/400
or later, or Linux as listed at the end of this section.
i5 servers require IBM i5/OS
listed at the end of this section.
Linux support:
• SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 for POWER
• Red Hat Enterprise LINUX AS for POWER V3

New pSeries and iSeries server models require the IBM
7212 TotalStorage Storage Device Enclosure Model 102
for support of save, restore, and archival functions. The
