    Getting started Installing the SIM card When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in SIM card loaded with your subscription details, such as your PIN, any optional services available, and so on. Important! The plug-in SIM card and its contacts can be easily damaged by scratches or bending, so be careful when handling, inserting, or removing the card.
  • Page 19 Getting started 3. Slide the SIM card into the SIM card socket, as shown, so that the card locks into position. Make sure the gold coloured contacts on the card face into the phone. Note: When you need to remove the SIM card, slide it upwards, as shown, and take it out of the socket.

    A travel adapter comes with your phone for charging the battery. Use only approved batteries and chargers. Ask your local Samsung dealer for further details. The travel adapter allows you to use the phone while the battery is charging, but this causes the phone to charge more slowly.

    Call history In this menu, you can view the: • calls you have dialled, received, or missed. • length of your calls. • cost of your calls, depending on your SIM card. Note: You can access the call records of all 3 types of calls by pressing the key in Idle mode.

    Settings Phone settings (Menu 3.2) Many different features of your phone can be customised to suit your preferences. Language (Menu 3.2.1) You can select a language for the display text. Select one of several languages. Slide settings (Menu 3.2.2) In this menu, you can set how the phone reacts when you open it for an incoming call, and when you close it while using a function.

    Settings When this option is set to off, you must press the key or the Accept soft key to answer a call. Voice clarity: when this option is enabled, the microphone’s sensitivity increases to allow the person on the phone to hear your voice even though you may be whispering during the call.

    Settings Network services (Menu 3.5) These menu functions access network services. Please contact your service provider to check their availability and then subscribe to them, if you wish. Call diverting (Menu 3.5.1) This network service enables incoming calls to be rerouted to a number that you specify.

    Settings Connectivity (Menu 3.6) In this menu, you can use the IrDA port or the Bluetooth feature for connecting to other devices wirelessly. Note: You cannot use the bluetooth and IrDA features while using multimedia features, such as voice recoder, taking a picture, record video, and multimedia players or vice versa.

    Settings Connect/Disconnect: allows you to connect/ disconnect to the selected device. You first need to enter the bluetooth PIN and then press the OK soft key. PIN check (Menu 3.7.1) When the PIN Check feature is enabled, you must enter your PIN each time you switch on the phone. Consequently, any person who does not have your PIN cannot use your phone without your approval.

    Camera Using the camera module embedded in your phone, you can take photos of people or events while on the move. You can also send photos to other people using various sending options, or set one as wallpaper or as a caller ID image for an entry in Phonebook.
