not been turned on.

The computer was started
up before the scanner was
not ready. (with SCSI con-
nection)
The inside of the scanner is
dirty, and requires routine
cleaning.

Remedial action
Clean the front reference plate.
Clean the back reference plate.
Clean the image sensor cover.

Connect the scanner, turn
its power on, and restart
the computer.
2.
Turn on the scanner's pow-
er, and restart the comput-
er.
3.
Restart the computer.
