Trying
Out
the Realtime
Performance Functions
The
JV-80
has various
controls for
altering the
sound
as
you
play.
Tiy
out
some
of
these functions
while
playing the keyboard.
The
application
of
effects
can
also
be determined
for individual
sound
programs by
using
the
same
controllers.
Listen
to
some
of
the differences
by
selecting
other Patches.
The
volume
and
the tonal quality (or timbre)
of
the
sound
will
change
according
to
your
playing
dynamics
(velocity),
or
how
hard
you
strike
the keys.
The
action
of
pressing a
key
down
after
playing
it
is
called "aftertouch."
Pitch,
tone
and
volume
can
also
be changed
using
aftertouch.

While
playing
a
note,
you
can
move
the
Bender/Modulation Lever
to
the
left
to
lower
the
pitch,
or
to
the right
to raise
the
pitch.
This
is
called the pitch
bend
effect.
You
can
also
push
the lever
forward
to
add
expressive
modulation
effects,
such
as vibrato or tremolo,
while
you
play.

The
volume
and
tone of the
sound can be changed
by
moving
this
slider
up and
down
while playing
the
keyboard.
The
functions
of
the
slider differ
depending on
the
settings.
This
is
used
to
change
the tonal quality of the
sound;
it
adjusts the brightness
and
clarity.
The
higher
the lever
is
moved
the
more
pronounced
the effect
becomes.

Further expressive
control
is
available with
a
pedal
switch (FS-1 or
DP-2)
or
expression pedal (EV-5 or
EV-10).
By
connecting
a
pedal
switch
to
the
HOLD
jack
on
the rear panel,
you can have
the
sound
sustain
even
after
you
release the keys.
By
connecting
an
expression pedal
to
one
of
the
pedal
jacks,
you can use
the pedat
to
change
the
volume
or the
tone
of
the
sound.
