Rechargeable battery
1. Insert the rechargeable battery.
(1) Open the battery compartment cover.
(2) Insert the – mark of the battery first.
(3) Close the battery compartment cover.
2. Plug the AC adaptor into an AC outlet (AC 100V) and plug the
other end into the DC IN 5V jack on the battery charger.
3. Place the main unit on the battery charger with its front toward you.
Use only the specified rechargeable battery (AD-N55BT).
When placing the main unit
on the battery charger, the
charging state is displayed
on the LCD.
Battery charging will be completed in 3 hours. When it is com-
pleted, " " will go out.
AC adaptor
1. Use the cord for plugging to the main unit. Put the cord through the slot.
2. Plug the cord into the DC IN 2V on the main unit.
3. Plug the AC adaptor into an AC outlet (AC 100V) and plug the
other end into the DC IN 5V jack on the battery charger.
Alkaline battery power
1. Open the battery case supplied with the unit.
2. Insert the AA size battery (LR6) into the battery case according to
the direction in it and then close it.
3. Align the protuberance on the battery case with the indentation
on the side of the unit.
4. Turn the linking screw on the battery case toward the word "LOCK",
and then make sure that the battery case does not move.

Display Conditions
Scrolling Charging.
Do not insert a rechargeable battery (such as nickel-cadmium
rechargeable battery) into the battery case.
INSERTING A MINIDISC ( pages 20 – 21)
1. Move the OPEN knob in the direction shown by the arrow to
open the disc holder.
2. Insert the arrow end of the MiniDisc first while pushing the center
of the MiniDisc and close the disc holder.
GROUP RECORDING ( pages 24 – 25)
Since this portable MD recorder adopts the 4 times long recording
mode, you can record many tracks on one MD. (Supporting
MDLP)
You can record tracks by the group of artists or albums, etc.
The MD can be played back by selecting the group.
Switching the group mode
1. Hold down the REC button for 2 seconds or more.
The recording operation will be interrupted.
2. Press the GROUP button for 1 second or more to display
"GROUP".
To cancel the group mode:
Extinguish "GROUP" by holding down the GROUP button for 1
second or more.
Note
A group-recorded MD may not be operated properly when it is
recorded or edited with other equipment.
RECORDING ON A MINIDISC ( pages 26 – 31)
1. Plug the remote control into the unit.
2. Insert a MiniDisc.
3. Connect an external equipment to the unit.
4. Hold down the REC button for 2 seconds or more.
