2: Technical Background
The third possible setting for a drive is CABLE SELECT, indicated as "CS" or
"CSEL". This is the only exception to the MASTER/SLAVE arrangement noted
above. In this case a special cable is required and all devices attached to this
cable must be set to CABLE SELECT. This is rarely implemented, so it is unlikely
that you will use this mode. If you run across problems, check your other EIDE
devices to verify settings.

LOCATING AND SETTING MASTER/SLAVE/CSEL JUMPERS

After discussing the different settings for your 72X or 62X TrueX™ CD-ROM Drive,
it is important to know HOW to make these settings. The Jumper Block is a set of
pin pairs that function like simple switches. They can be either "ON" (closed cir-
cuit) or "OFF" (open circuit). On your 72X or 62X TrueX™ CD-ROM Drive the
MASTER/SLAVE jumper block is located between the CD audio and the ATAPI
interface connections. (see Figure 2-1)
