13. Circuit Description

13-1 Overall Block Description

■ The Prime (K71A) chassis can be divided into Main and System blocks. The most distinguishing difference in the Main block is
the Deflection block when compared to the previous model, the Natural (K63A) chassis. In order to alleviate the GD problem (The
vertical line distortion on the right and left sides of the screen due to the wide angle of the CRT) of a Slim CRT, a "DHC (Digital
Horizontal Control)" IC has been adopted.
This IC not only alleviates the GD problem, but also removes the previous analog correction circuitry for increased stability and
better quality. The major change in the System Board is that the Natural Contrast MPEC IC, X240H, has been changed to X242H.
X242H is an optimized DTV MPEG IC developed by removing unnecessary functions of the X240H. In addition, the Sound
Processor IC, STV8257 has been changed to MSP4450K.
The other devices are the same and additional functions including the Service Software Upgrade function are the same.
