Adjust the seat properly before beginning
your journey. Always ensure that the backrest
is in an almost vertical position and that the
shoulder section of your seat belt is routed
across the center of your shoulder.

WARNING
When you adjust a seat, you or other vehicle
occupants could become trapped, e.g. on the
seat guide rail. There is a risk of injury.
Make sure when adjusting a seat that no one
has any body parts in the sweep of the seat.
Observe the safety notes on "Air bags"
(
page 50) and "Children in the vehicle"

Y
Folding the seat backrest forward
The seat moves forwards as soon as you fold
the backrest forwards.
This makes it easier for passengers to get into
and out of the rear compartment. The head
restraint is lowered in the process and the
seat moves forwards.
Pull seat release handle : forwards and
X
fold the backrest forwards as far as it will
go.
The seat automatically moves to the fore-
most position and the head restraint is low-
ered.
Folding the seat backrest back
Fold back the backrest horizontally until it
X
engages.
If the rear seat backrest is not engaged, this
will be shown in the multifunction display in
the instrument cluster. A warning tone also
sounds.
The seat moves automatically to the last
position.
Adjusting the active multicontour
seat
The settings for the active multicontour seat
are only activated if:
the seat is occupied
R
the seat belt is fastened.
R
Vehicles installed with the Seat Comfort
package: you can adjust the active multicon-
tour seat for the driver and front passenger
with COMAND (see the separate operating
instructions).
Adjusting the 4-way lumbar support
The 4-way lumbar support can be adjusted
with COMAND (see the separate operating
instructions).
Switching the seat heating on/off
Switching on/off

WARNING
Repeatedly switching on the seat heating can
cause the seat cushion and backrest pads to
become very hot. The health of persons with
limited temperature sensitivity or a limited
ability to react to excessively high tempera-
tures may be affected or they may even suffer
burn-like injuries. There is a risk of injury.
Therefore, do not switch the seat heating on
repeatedly.
