Inspection of the excitation winding

The burnout or charring of the insulating material of the excitation winding means the electric motor is overheated
due to the overloaded or grounded or short circuit coil winding. In case the insulating material of the excitation
winding is charred, please replace the electric motor or the stator enclosu re component.

Motor element

1.
Inspect the insulator
2.
Inspect the brush
13 for damage or heavy wear. Replace the brush when necessary.
3.
Inspect the brush spring
due to being heated. Replace the spring of which the elasticity is smaller than 16 ounces (see Fig 12-5).
CAUTION
To inspec t the elasticity of the brush spring, it is strictly prohibited to excessive ly e xtend the spring.
Excessive force may damage the spring.
NOTE:
