Replacing the heat sink and fan assembly
CAUTION:
The heat sink and fan assembly might be very hot. Turn off the computer and
wait three to five minutes to let the computer cool before removing the
computer cover.
This section provides instructions on how to replace the heat sink and fan
assembly.

Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the

1. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 11.
2. Lay the computer on its side for easier access to the heat sink and fan
assembly.
3. Your computer supports two heat sink and fan assemblies. Locate the heat
sink and fan assembly you want to replace.. See "Locating components" on
page 9.
4. Remove the heat sink and fan assembly cable from the system board. Note the
cable location.
