Functional Description
The Model 9172DT Multiplexer/Transmitter combines four composite video baseband signals by implementing
a 10-bit linear analog-to-digital conversion on each video signal at a 15 MHz rate/ This video data is multiplexed
with three to seven input data signals from the built-in data ports and audio/data option interface modules. All
of the multiplexed data is transmitted via one optical fiber.
The Model 9172DR receives the optical signal from the transmitter, separates the composite data into four
digital video data streams and three to seven data streams, and performs a digital-to-analog conversion of the
four video data streams yielding four composite video outputs and three data outputs via the built-in data
ports and up to four data or stereo audio outputs via the audio data option modules.
The 9172DT and 9172DR are compatible with and fit into the Series 9000 card chassis. They occupy two
card slots each and operate utilizing 6VDC from an appropriate power supply.
