2-1. Driving procedures

Driving the vehicle

The following procedures should be observed to ensure safe driv-
ing.
Starting the hybrid system (→P. 131)

Driving
n
STEP 1
With the brake pedal depressed, shift the shift lever to "D".
STEP 2
Release the parking brake.
STEP 3
Gradually release the brake pedal and gently depress the
accelerator pedal to accelerate the vehicle.
Stopping
n
STEP 1
With the shift lever in "D", depress the brake pedal.
STEP 2
If necessary, set the parking brake.
When the vehicle is stopped for an extended period of time, push
the "P" position switch.
n Parking the vehicle
STEP 1
With the shift lever in "D", depress the brake pedal.
STEP 2
Set the parking brake.
STEP 3
Push the "P" position switch.
When parking on hill, if necessary, block the wheels.
STEP 4
Press the "POWER" switch and stop the hybrid system.
STEP 5
Lock the door, making sure that you have the electronic key
on your person.
Starting on a steep incline
STEP 1
Firmly set the parking brake and shift the shift lever to "D".
STEP 2
Gently depress the accelerator pedal.
STEP 3
Release the parking brake.
