At temperatures below +14 °F:
(Intake air preheating)
It is advisable to fit the optional intake air
preheating kit if you use your saw in
extremely cold conditions (temperatures
below +14 °F, in powder or drifting
snow). With the intake air preheating kit
fitted, use a suitable tool to remove the
insert in the shroud by breaking it along
the perforated contour.
When fitted, the kit ensures that only
heated air is drawn in from around the
cylinder -it prevents air filter and
carburetor icing.
If your saw is very cold (frost or ice on
machine), start the engine and keep it at
a high idle speed (with chain brake
disengaged) until it reaches normal
operating temperature.

The air filter may load up faster when
you use intake air preheating -clean it
more frequently.
In the event of engine running problems,
first check that conditions for use of
intake air preheating still apply.
:
When the weather becomes milder,
seal the opening in the shroud with
plug (1) 1118 145 9000.
