The articulating Ikelite Ball Socket Arm secures the DS
on all Ikelite digital still housings and SLR housings The versatility of the arm's dual ball
sockets is especially helpful during macro photography They adjust independently and
allow for a multitude of strobe mounting positions

The next step then depends on whether or not you have another
kind of strobe mount currently attached to your DS
mount use the ball type mount provided There are screw openings at each

end of the ball type mount Select the side that has an opening closest to the
flat top of the mount Slide that side of the ball type mount under the DS

until it aligns with the small screw opening located under the front part of
the strobe Then using a Phillips Head Screwdriver with the screw provided

tighten the screw until the mount rests secure under the DS
If a paddle type mount is already secured beneath the DS
remove the screw with a Phillips Head Screwdriver and follow the above
instructions to replace it with the ball type mount featured on the
Stem

The stem protruding at the base of the arm snaps into the release handle on the Ikelite
housing To insert the stem into the release handle depress the handle's release button and
slide the stem fully into the opening atop the handle Release the button and it should
spring back to its original position locking the arm in place The stem also provides a
convenient location for securing the optional DS Slave Sensor or EV Manual Controller

Turn the wing nuts of the arm counter clockwise to loosen the ball clamps Position
the ball of the strobe mount in the ball socket of the loosened ball clamp at the top of
the arm Once you are satisfied with the strobe's position turn the wing nut clockwise
to retighten until the DS
rests securely Loosen and retighten the wing nuts
accordingly on each ball clamp to adjust the overall position of the arm Each section
of the ball socket arm can rotate up to
The cap in the center of each wing nut limits their movements so that the nut can
not be turned all the way off This insures that the arm cannot be accidentally
disassembled If desired the center cap can be adjusted to remove this safety feature
