(Slight) ventilation also takes place when the base unit is directly against the
wall.
c Protective base
The installation of a protective base beneath the cooktop is not required, but
permitted.
If a protective base is installed, the distance between the top edge of the coun‐
tertop and the top edge of the base must be at least 5¹/₈" (130 mm) for proper
ventilation of the cooktop.
Leave an air gap of 3" (75 mm) at the back for the power cord.
