Adjusting the
GaugeWheels
Keephandsandfeet awayfrom the dischargeopening of the cutting deck.
NOTE: The deckgaugewheelsareananti-scalpfeatureofthe deckandarenot
designed to support t he weight ofthe cuttingdeck.
Themowerdeckcuttingheightcanbesetinanyofsixheightsettingsusingthe
ridingmower'sdecklift handle. T hedeckheightsrangefrom 1-1//'to 4".Thedeck
gaugewheelpositionshouldbeapproximately 1 /4-1//' above the groundwhenthe
deckissetinthe desiredheightsetting.
Using the lift handle, s etthe deck inthe desired heightsetting,thencheck thegauge
wheels distance f romthe ground below.If necessary adjustasfollows:
1.
Visually c heck thedistance between the frontgaugewheelandtheground.
Ifthe gauge wheelisnearor touching theground,it shouldberaised. I fmore
than1//,above the ground, i t shouldbelowered.
2.
Remove t he flangelocknut securing thefront gaugewheelshoulder bolt to
the deck.Remove t he gaugewheelandshoulder bolt. Refer t o Figure 29.

Insertthe shoulder bolt into the oneoffour indexholesinthe gaugewheel
bracket t hat will givethe gaugewheela¼_1//,clearance w ith the ground
andsecure withthe flangelocknut.

Notetheindex holeofthejustadjusted wheel,andadjustthe othergauge
wheels intothe respective i ndexholes of theothergauge wheelbracket o nthe
deck.
Drive Control LeverStopAdjustment
Whenthe drivecontrollevers arebothfullyextended forwardto the full-speed
positionandthe tractordriftsleft or right,the drivecontrolleverstopadjustment
canbeadjusted to syncthe wheelspeeds. T operformthe adjustment, p roceed as
follows:
1.
Identifythe sidethat thetractorisdrifting to andadjusttheoppositedrive
controllever.Ifthe tractordrifts right,adjustthe left controlleverdown
(decrease s peed)andviceversa.
2.
Locate the drivecontrolleverstopadjustmentboltsonthe front of the seat
frame.SeeFigure 30.

Todecrease t he forwardspeed, t urn the bolt clockwise. Toincrease the
forwardspeed, t urn the boltcounter-clockwise. Turnthe bolt inthe
necessary d irection1/4-turnat atime.Afterturningthe bolt,checkthe
adjustmentbydrivingthe tractor.
4.
Continue theadjustmentuntil the wheelspeeds areinsyncandthe tractor
drivesstraightwith the drivecontrollevers fully extended forwardinthe
fuji-speedposition.
DeckRemoval
Remove t he mowerdeckfrom thetractorasfollows:
1.
Movethe tractorto a level s urface, d isengage the PTO, stopthe engine, a nd
setthe parkingbrake.
2.
Movethe deck gaugewheelsto theirhighestsetting(lowestdecksetting).
3.
Remove t he 'V'belt from the PTO pulley,locatedonthe bottomof the
engine,usingoneofthe followingtwo methods.
Themuffler at the rearof the tractor may beextremely hot, and could
causeseriousburns.Use extreme cautionwhen near the muffler. Allow the
muffler to fully coo[ beforeremoving the belt from the PTOpulley.
