Using the TransmissionBypassRods
If foranyreason the ridingmowerwill not driveor youwishto movethe riding
mower,the two hydrostatic transmissions areequipped with abypass rodthatwill
allowyouto manuallymovethe ridingmowershortdistances.
Donot tow the riding mower,evenwith the bypassrod engaged.Serious
transmissiondamage will resultfrom doingso.

Locate the hydrostatic b ypass r odinthe rearofthe ridingmower. S ee Figure

Engage the bypass rodsbypullingeachoneout Ca) andto the right(b)to
lockit into place. S eeFigure 25.
Disengage t he bypass rodsbyreversing steps a& bafter movingthe tractor.
SeeFigure 25.
NOTE: The transmission w ill NOT engage whenthe hydrostatic bypass r odis
pulledout.Returnthe rodto its normalpositionprior tooperatingthe riding
mower.
Neverattempt to movethe riding mower manually without first opening
the hydrostatic reliefvalve.Doingsowill resultin seriousdamageto the
ridingmower'stransmission.
Adjustments
Shutthe engineoff, removethe ignitionkeyand engagethe parking brake
before makingadjustments. Protectyour handsbyusing heavygloves
when handling the blades.
Adjusting RH& LHDrive ControlLevers
TheRH andLHdrivecontrolleverscanbeadjustedupor down andforwardor
backward for the comfortofthe operator. T hedrivecontrolleverscanbeplacedin
eitherof two heightpositions, a nd/orcanbemovedforwardor rearwardwithin the
rangeofthe slotin eachlowerarm.
Toadjustthedrivecontrol l everheight,proceed asfollows:
1.
Remove t he upperhexscrewandflat washer securing the leverto the pivot
bracket.
2.
Whilesupportingthe control l everto keepit from falling,remove the hex
screwandflat washer from the bottomofthe controlleverandlowerarm.
Refer t o Figure 26.

Reposition t he control l everto alignwith the othersetof holesinthe lower
armandinsert t he hexscrew throughthe flat washer andinto the lower
arm.Tighten the hexscrewuntil snug.

Insertthe hexscrew throughthe flat washer andthroughthe controllever
slotandthe lowerarm. Donot tighten now.
5.
Ifyouaregoingto adjustthe controlleversforwardor rearward, p roceed to
the next step.If not,fully tightenthe hexscrew.
Toadjustthedrivecontrol l eversforward/rearward, p roceed asfollows:
1.
Ifnot alreadyloose,loosen the hexscrewandrotatethe controllevereither
forwardor rearwardto the desired position.SeeFigure 26.
NOTE: I fthe controlleveristoo tight to move, s lightlyloosenthe hexscrew
at the bottomofthe controllever.

Tightenthe hexscrewto fix the controlleverinthe adjusted position
Repeat the aboveprocedure t o adjustthe othercontrolleverintothe same
position.Adjustsothatbothleversareevenwith eachotherwheninthe
neutralposition.
