DeckLeveling
NOTE: Check thetractor's t irepressure before p erforming anydeck leveling
adjustments. Refer toTires f orinformation regarding tirepressure.
Shutthe engine off, removethe ignitionkeyandengagethe parkingbrake
beforemaking adjustments.Protectyour handsby using heavygloves
when handlingthe blades.
Leveling the Deck(Front-to-Back)
NOTE: Check the tractor'stire pressure beforeperforminganydeckleveling
adjustments. R efer t o Tireson page 22for information r egarding tire pressure.
Alwayslevelthe deckside-to-side before front to rear.
Thefront of the deckshouldbe between1/4-3/8" lowerthanthe rearof the deck.
Adjustif necessary asfollows:

Park the tractoron afirm, levelsurface andplacethe decklift handlein a
middle )osition.

If the cuttingdeckappears to bemowingunevenly, a side-to-side adjustment c an
beperformed. A djustif necessary a sfollows:
1.
Withthe tractorparkedon afirm, levelsurface, p lace the decklift handlein
amiddlemowingpositionandrotatebothoutsidebladessothatthey are
perpendicular with the tractor.
2.
Measure t hedistance fromthe outside of the leftbladetip to theground
andthedistance fromtheoutside of therightbladetip to theground.Both
measurements takenshould beequal.Ifthey'renot,proceed t othe nextstep.

Loosen, but do NOT remove, t he hexbolton the rearleft deckhangerlink.

Usingawrench,raiseor lowerthe left sideof the deckbyturningthe
adjustment g ear.SeeFigure 27.
Thedeckisproperlyleveled when bothbladetip measurements areequal.
Retighten the hexbolt onthe front left deckhanger b racketwhenproper
adjustment i sachieved.
Rotate t heblade nearest thedischarge chute sothatit isparallel withthe
tractor.
Measure t he distance fromthe front of the bladetip to thegroundandthe
rearof the bladetip to theground.The first measurement takenshouldbe
between1/4"and3/8" lessthanthe second measurement.
4.
Determine the approximate distance necessary f orproperadjustment a nd
proceed, if necessary.
5.
Using awrench,loosenthejam nut first, thenraiseor lowerthe front of deck
byturninghexnut on thefront decklift rod.SeeFigure 28.

Thedeckisproperly leveledwhenthe front tip of the bladeis1/4" lower
thanthe reartip. Tighten the jam nut to the hexnut onthe front decklift rod
whenproperadjustment i sachieved.
