Optimizing sound for the listening
position — Intelligent Time
Alignment
The unit can change the localization of sound by
delaying the sound output from each speaker to
suit your position, and simulate a natural sound
field with the feeling of being in the center of it
wherever you sit in the car.
The setting is configurable both from the sound
menu (page 37) and the visual setup menu
(page 41).
The options for "POS" (sound menu) and
"POSITION SELECT" (visual setup menu) are
indicated below.
FRONT L (1): Front left
FRONT R (2): Front right
FRONT (3): Center front
ALL (4): In the center of
your car
CUSTOM*: Precisely
calibrated position
* Appears only in visual setup.

page 38.
By the sound menu
Press (SOUND) repeatedly until "POS" appears,
then select your listening position.
For details on this procedure, see "Adjusting the
sound characteristics — SOUND" on page 37.
By the visual setup menu

Press (VISUAL SETUP) while the unit is
off.
The visual setup menu appears.

Press M/m to select
SETUP), then press (ENTER).
The audio setup items appear.

Note
Intelligent Time Alignment is deactivated while the
karaoke mode (page 33) is activated, or "SUPER
AUDIO CD MODE"/"SA-CD MOD" is set to "HQ"
(page 44, 49).
Tip
The setting in sound menu will switch the setting in the
visual setup menu automatically, and vice versa.
Precisely calibrating the listening
position — Intelligent Time
Alignment Tune
You can precisely calibrate your listening
position from each speaker so that the sound
delay reaches the listener more correctly.
The setting is configurable both from the visual
setup menu (page 41) and the system setup menu

Before starting, measure the distance between

your listening position and each speaker.
By the visual setup menu

Note
If a center speaker is not connected, ignore its setting.
Press M/m to select the desired option,

The setting is complete.
From the visual setup menu, select
(AUDIO SETUP) c "POSITION

(ENTER).
