Connection to other Switches

The S2Konnect Unmanaged Switch can be connected directly to the port of another switch (or
hub) as each port of the S2Konnect Unmanaged Switch supports Auto MDI and MDIX functiona-
lities.
In order to connect two Switches with one another, proceed as follows:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
!
Keep attention to use only one cable to connect two Switches. The use of multiple cables can
create a loop and cause collisions.

If possible, disconnect the Switches from the power supply.
At one end of the cable connect the RJ-45 connector to the port on the S2Konnect
Unmanaged Switch (see figure 4).
At the other end of the cable connect the connector to the port of the other switch. The
port type (e.g. 1000Base-T) of both Switches must be identical.
Reconnect both Switches to the power supply.
Turn on the Switches.
At the S2Konnect Unmanaged Switch check the SPD/LNK/ACT LED belonging to the
port you plugged in the plug to find out if the cable is connected correctly.
If the LED is on, the connection is established and active. Otherwise you have to check
the S2Konnect Unmanaged Switch more closely (for details, refer to section
"LED Displays" on page 13).
If possible, check the LED on the other switch in the same manner.
If the LED should not light up, refer to the appropriate switch manual to find the error.
