    User Safety Instructions 1. NEVER hold the radio so that the antenna is very close to, or touching exposed parts of the body, especially the face or eyes, while transmitting. The radio will perform best if the microphone is 2 – 4 inches (5 – 10 cm) away from the lips and the radio is vertical.

    Getting Started Installing the Battery Pack Turn the radio OFF. With the top side up on the battery pack, fit the tabs at the bottom of the battery into the slots at the bottom of the radio’s body. Press the top part of the battery towards the radio until a click is heard.

    Turn OFF the radio. Push down the battery latch and hold it while removing the battery. Pull the battery away from the radio. Installing the Belt Clip Use the 2 supplied screws to screw the belt clip on the radio set.

    Charging the Battery Pack To charge the battery pack, place it in the supplied desktop charger. Place the desktop charger on a flat surface. Insert the connector of the AC adapter into the charger port on the back of the desktop charger. Plug the AC adaptor into a power outlet.

    FUNCTION DESCRIPTION Basic Operation Turn the Radio ON/OFF To turn on the radio, rotate on the On/Off/Volume Knob clockwise. The radio plays power up audio and channel number. To turn off the radio, rotate the On/Off/Volume Knob counterclockwise until you hear a ‘click’ sound. Adjusting Volume Turn the On/Off/Volume Knob clockwise to increase the volume, or counterclockwise to decrease the volume.

    that you do not use the radios closer than 2 meters apart, to avoid interference. Talk range depends on the terrain. It will be affected by concrete structures, heavy foliage and by operating radios indoors or in vehicles. Optimal range occurs in flat, open areas with up to 8 km of coverage.

    Scan Scan allows you to monitor other channels to detect conversations. When the radio detects a transmission, it stops scanning and goes to the active channel. This allows you to listen and talk to people in that channel without having to change channel manually.
