1.3 EC designation

The purpose of EC designation is to certify that the
atmoSTOR VGH classic complie with the requirements of
the directives covering gasfired appliances (Council
directive 90/396/EEC).

1.4 Specified use

The Vaillant gas-fired hot water cylinder atmoSTOR VGH
classic 130/6Z, 160/6Z and 190/6Z is a directly heated
closed-system (unvented) floor-standing cylinder with
allgas burner for natural gas and LPG. It is used to provi-
de hot water in a comfortable and efficient way to flats,
single- and multiple-dwellings, restaurants etc. The
atmoSTOR VGH classic 130/6Z, 160/6Z and 190/6Z can
be installed in flats and cellar rooms, box rooms or mul-
tifunctional rooms; in this connection the following
instructions are to be observed. The gas-fired hot water
cylinders atmoSTOR may only be used according to the
above-mentioned purpose.
Any other use is prohibited.

2 Safety

2.1 Safety instructions

For your own safety, please note that your appliance
must only be installed and set as well as taken into ope-
ration for the first time by an authorized installer who is
also responsible for maintenance and repair of your
appliance.
Smell of gas
If you smell gas please proceed as follows:
– do not switch on/off the light or actuate any electric
switch
– do not use the telephone in the danger area
– no open flame (e. g. lighter/match)
– do not smoke
– close gas shut-off valve
– open doors and windows
– inform gas supply company or your authorized fitter
Modifications
You are not allowed to carry out any modification
• at the appliance
• at the supply pipes
• at the flue gas discharge pipes
This likewise applies to constructional conditions in the
ambience of the appliance as far as these conditions
may influence the operating safety of your appliance.
Examples are:
– Do not close - nor intermittently - vents in doors, cei-
lings, windows and walls. Do not cover any vents with
clothes or similar. If flooring materials are laid, the
ventilation apertures at the bottom of the doors must
not be obturated or reduced.
– Do not impair the free supply of air to the appliance.
Pay particular attention to this when mounting cupbo-
ards, shelves or similar in the proximity of the applian-
ce. A cupboard-type casing of the appliance is subject
to the relevant instructions for installation. Please ask
your authorized installer in case you intend to encase
your appliance in this way.
– Do not obstruct openings for the air supply and flue
gas discharge at the facade. See to it that obturations
of openings are removed in connection with works at
the front after completion.
– Do not install any additional appliances, neither for
heating, warm water or ventilation nor dryers or range
hoods in the ambient of the appliance without prior
consultation with your fitter.
– If you install joint-sealed windows, you have to consult
your fitter and see to it that sufficient combustion air
can be supplied to the boiler.
In any case, the authorized fitter will be responsible or
must be consulted respectively if the appliance or the
ambience are submitted to modifications!
