Open the operation panel by grasping it with both hands and gently pulling it towards you.

Remove the soft styrofoam sheet from the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), then gently
close the operation panel by pressing it down from the centre until it clicks.

The paper rest helps keep paper or other media straight in the sheet feeder.
